How we work

Transparency and open information

Transparency lies at the core of Practical Action's accountability towards our staff, our members and our supporters. It refers to our openness and honesty in sharing information about our activities, our performance and learning as an organisation, our governance and decision making processes and our financial arrangements.

More information on transparency and our complaints procedure is available in our Open Information Policy. We also publish financial and project information via the International Aid Transparency Initiative.

Corporate engagement

The Company Engagement Policy sets out Practical Action’s rational for engagement with the larger-scale private sector as a means to achieve its strategic objectives. It recognizes that companies can be important actors in the development context and that engagement with them presents Practical Action with a particular set of opportunities. It also notes that engagement with such organisations can create risks for Practical Action and the people it works for and that a due diligence process is required to assess the balance between risks and opportunities in each case.

Practical Action Company Engagement Policy

Practical Action is committed to ensuring equitable access to technological options for all women and men, advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment through all of its work including programmes, knowledge sharing, advocacy and external communications, and through its own organisational development.
